It's amazing the little physical effort required, not economic, to achieve these 2600 meters altitude, it just requires taking the cogwheel railway in Garmisch-Partenkirchen (700m) and let go. A long tunnel at the end perhaps avoid the shock of the last four kilometers of ascent. The reward is visible here, very beautiful if the day is clear. And, in a step with a cable you can reach almost the top of Zugspitze, the highest peak of Germany.
